Requires one 9 volt battery to operate (battery not included).
Battery installation
1.Open the battery cover on the back of the unit.
2.Install a DC9V battery (6F22) into the compartment .
3.Replace the battery door ; battery life is approximately 10 hours.

Using the detector
1. Position the unit flat against the wall.
2. Press on/off button and continue to hold in.
3. Slowly slide unit horizontally across the wall, right or left. As you begin to approach a stud, the yellow LEDs will light, from bottom to top.
4. Mark the spot when the top red LED lights and the beep sounds.
5. Continue scanning beyond the marked spot until the yellow LEDs go out.
6. Slide the unit in the reverse direction. Mark the second spot when stud detects again.
7. The middle of the stud is centered between the two marks.

AC warning
AC warning works continuously. When live AC voltage is detected, the AC Warning LED will illuminate. Always turn off the power when working near electrical wires.

CAUTION: AC wires deeper than 2 in.(51mm) from the surface may not be detected. Be especially careful when live AC present.
